Default Elec. Water pump ?

Is anyone useing one, if so how was the install? What kind of gains did you see (I know they say areound 15 RWHP)? Have you had any problems with you car running hot? What brand are you useing/reccomond useing? Did you use the stock belt size or did it require a shorter one? Any help on this would be great I am thinking about getting one and what to know what kind of gains I would see. Thanks all for any help.

Also if you are useing one do you have u/d pully also? Can you still use the u/d pully without any problems?

Kind of iffy on a daily driver. I looked into them, but decided against it.

This was my reaction also.Although they seem like a quality made part, replacement cost would be high. One benefit that I did see would be that since they pump water at the same speed all the time even at low rpms, the head temps would be more uniform. This,in theory anyway, could allow you to run that last degree of advance or one more pound of boost that would cause a hotter cylinder to detonate.I found that people running over 400 hp had some problems at sustained high speeds. This happened while racing on road courses so daily driving and a couple of runs through the gears would probably be OK.As for belt length, they come with or without a pulley.Personally I would go without a pulley.

No warning if an electric pump goes out.

About how much do they run and what is really necessary for the install. I mean, 15 RWHP is alot compared to pulleys or even CAI. Majority of my driving consists of a windy highway doing 45- 70, I get stuck behind alot of Semi's, would this be something worth looking into for my type of driving?

They are around $300.00 and last for about 5000 hours.

So around 5000 hours the pump might quit without warning? Forget it, too risky for my car.

Looking into it a little more and finding their web-site, it is not really worth it if you drive your car daily. It says that they will last 3000+ hours, and code3gt says 5000 hours; So if you do the math and figure that you drive the car 30min. a day (this is for me to and from work only) it will last between 100-166 days of driveing (depending on 3000 or 5000 hours). So looking at that it is not worth it at all for me because 1) would have to buy (3) a year (3x$300=$900 a year for 15 hp) 2) I know that I in all reality drive more than and average of 30 min./day. So my mind is made up and I will not be getting one.

OK so I posted this on another form, and my math was way off!!! I am going to look into getting one of these for my DD. When I did my math the first time I was just looking at time and not distance. So re-doing the math, driveing an average of 55 MPH for 3000 hours would mean that you will cover 165,000 miles before it would quit!! Looking at the math that I did before I was figureing that I drive 30min. /day which would be equal to 3 hours for 5 days (min. average for 5 days) plus another, lets say 4 hours for the weekend. so that is a total of 7 hours a week; 3000 total hours divided by an average of 7 hours a week would equal 428.57 weeks ( or even eaiser would be 10hrs. /week for 3000 hours would equal 300 weeks). So please dis-reguard my above post as my brain was not working and my math is way off.

Now one thing that Code3gt pointed out was that you will not know when it dies, but do you know when you current water pump dies? There is no waring for the stock pump either.

I just wanted to correct my bad info and let everyone that a Elec. water pump might be worth looking into.
