how much was the service for the heads and how much of a horsepower gain are we talkin?
My service deal was a steal, because it's my friends shop, so I have only been charged $900 for the tear down, rebuild, fuel pump install & retune. Fox Lake is claiming 60rwhp gains or better.
which heads and intake manifolds are best? ive read about fox lake, vt, and trick flow? and what about cams? vt or comp?
I know a little secret about Fox Lake & VT heads hehe...trust me when I say that you can't go wrong either way, because they are 'earily' similiar. I don't care much for trick flow. As far as cams are concerned, VT are supposed to have a grind that maintains the lowend kick that is sometime lost when aggressive cams come into play, since a lot of cams produce their power up top. VT's stage 2 are supposed to give the best of both worlds. However, cars with Comp's grinds I seem produce better '60fts. Either way you can't loose.
how much did you pay for those parts?
is that 60wrhp on a pi car?
Fox Lake lists their prices on their website. The heads are $1800 w/a core swap or $2300 without. The P-51 is $900 for a core, or $1300 for the kit with everything you need. The cams are about $600 (I can't remember how much I paid exactly). Fuel pump was $90, the 2V valve covers were $279. Let's not forget all the gaskets & other misc. things (coolant, oil, timing chains) you'll need and shipping. All in all, about $4500 in parts without the $900 labor my friend hooked me up with. Gotta pay ta play! Ron hooked me up with a few things on pricing that I am not going mention, but just trust me he's a great guy to do business with. The price tag I have with total parts and labor could very easily be $1500 higher. Oh...it's for a 2002 GT, so yea.
