wondering where the mach 1 gets its power gains from. doesnt it have like 300 and the gt like 260 or something?

Yeah they claim about 305.The Mach 1 has a DOHC engine and the GT has a SOHC

I had a 2001 GT, albeit automatic, and currently have a 2003 Mach 1. The difference in performance is very noticeable and made eating the depreciation on the GT much easier to take. The HP difference is largely due to the higher compression ratio of the DOHC engine and improved cylinder heads. Other than the suspension and brakes, many of the other performance components are similar or identical to the GT.

ive seen some peaople make their sohc gt engins into mach engins by putting on the heads or somthing. what is need and is there a kti?

Obviously you would need more than just "heads" to do the swap because the mach engine is a 4 valve and the GT is only a 2 valve. How do you intend to drive the other 2 cams?

Anyway, the Mach is a totally different beast than the GT.....For starters, the mach has the 4 cam/4 valve per cylinder setup, twin throttle bodies, a cool shaker hood, upgraded suspension components and bigger, better brakes.

It is more like a 99 or 01 Cobra with a solid rear axle than it is like an 03 or 04 GT.

The Machs typically dyno like 285 whp where as a GT dynoes 220 to 230. This is manual vs. manual.

It has more aggresive timing also dosn't it? 91+ octane or is that only because of the increased compression. 10.1:1 VS. 9.4:1
