Default Cold air intake

I'm looking to buy a Mac cold air intake, Does it really matter if it is a K&N, Mac, or BBK besides looks?

They all do basically the same thing. Some have slightly better dyno numbers typically differing in 1-2 rwhp. It's more of a brand name thing and materials issue. The plastic tubing in the K&N FIPK kits don't hold engine heat as bad as the aluminum pieces like MAC. BBK, or C&L. But then again, you'll never crack an aluminum one. I've never heard of anyone having a plastic one crack either though.... Tuneable induction is the way to go!

Get whichever one you want.

The CAI's really don't get you any HP that you can justify spending your cash for

Don't do it! I've got one and I like it, but I had to modify mine. That fenderwell **** got old. When you have to clean it, it's a bitch to get the filter on and off. Go with the Mac straight shot or the K&N or even Steeda.

Cold air kits are a waste of money and are over-rated by to many people.

Buy a K&N filter and cut the snorkel even with the fender well.

goddamnit, I agree with codyss.

edit: wait, not completely. remove the "snorkel" aka air silencer. don't bother cutting it.

Had MAC-like fenderwell kit. Like most MAC products - it sucked butt. Bad to have turns in tube in front of the MAF. I now have Steeda and that huge f-ing filter gulps more air and is many times over easier to remove and clean.

Snorkel? He's driving a car, not a U-boat, Cody. Did you mean the silencer?

get whatever. only noticable difference in any CAI is you'll have better throttle response. you're not going to feel that 6HP increase.
