hey i have a 97 gt mustang. I really want cams, i love how they sound.I havent done much to my car. I have done Slp loudmouth 1 catback, ummm 70mm accufab throttle body/plenum combo, intake. and thats all. I was wondering is there anything else i should do before i get cams, fuel injectors possibly, high performance fuel pump (ever since modes makes loud noise), idk what to do but i want cams!! please help

For sure...4:10's and the rest of your bolt ons (Pulleys, Ignition, Headers, Mid-Pipe, etc) then go for your internals...

 

I would do gears first personally. I also want some cams down the road, but get the gears for cheap first. They will add a real nice addition for cheap, then start saving for your cams. Cams are going to cost a lot of money because your going to need other work done.

Your going to need different heads + cams + possibly other engine work.
Thats a lot of money including installation, so your best bet would be to start saving.. But I wouldn't do them yet.

Someone can correct me if Im wrong..

But I believe gears change the gear ratio, putting more RPM's into each gear.
Throws the cars throuhg the RPMs faster.

Yes sir...Maybe drop .2-.4 off your quarter time with good rubbers and a good driver...

 

gears typicaly they are talking about lowering the rear ends gear ratio witch basicaly lets you put the power to the ground with more ease



on a 97 i would look in ot doing heads with the cams there isn't that much more labor involved and a good set of pi heads (99-04) will make more of a diffence than almost any thing on that car.
