Redline??
I have a 99 GT i know that the redline starts at like 5800, and REDLINES at like 6200, but was curious if anyone with a programmer has taken the stock redline off, and put it further to about 6500?? is this safe, and do u or dont u get more power out of this ? thanks

RE: Redline??
Its limited at 6200 because of internals and cams. You really wont gain anything by raising the red line, just a better chance of breaking stuff. The stock cams get there max hp about 5400 rpm or so and just start going down after that.
Basicly I wouldnt worry about it till unless your engine is forged, and got the cams to support it.

so are u pretty much sayin that after 5400 rpm's im at my engines max hp mark correct? so when i race at the track is it better to take it to 6000 or 5400 ?? cuz i get better times when i take it to 6000, but thats true about the breaking stuff, thanks for your help [8D]

RE: Redline??
Agreed. Don't mess with it. Try shifting right before 6 grand and see what times you produce (5600-5800)...

RE: Redline??
the rotating assembly is balanced to 6500, i'd keep it to 6200 even if you had the cams and manifold to make power up there. as said, the stock motor cant take it, and in stock form it will only drop off anyways.

you want to shift out of gear at the very peak of your powerband, which for mine is around 5200-5400. I get better times shifting then than i do when i shift at 5800-6000.

i remember them days. now my engine is suffering because the pi intake can't feed the cams.
