Default RE: Mustang Vs. GTO

if you want a collectors item get the GTO or the cobra. think about it.......how many GTO's have you seen on the road? i have seen 3 and part of my job involves driving around the country.

GM sold very few of the GTO and i seriously doubt they'll still be around in 07.....at least not without a new body that looks a little more agressive and some gto styling cues. if you get the gto and keep it for 25 years or so you will have one rare and valuable car.

but if you get the cobra then you have the very best car ever made.

In my opinion for what you comparing I would get the GTO, The GT500 is an awesome looking car, What im hoping is that alot of 03/04 cobra owners are going to trade in there cobra for the new gt500..that's when im going to try to jump in and pick up a 03 or 04 cobra.. hopefully..

Cobra best car ever made?

a 281 with a Eaton supercharger?

but without getting into that^^^^
IM TALKING STOCK vs STOCK here... a lot of stuff can be done to either car.
I will say yes- should be between then 04 cobra and the 05 gto.

yes the GTO is not selling to much, but however it looks were never meant to be a "sports car/muscle car" etc... it as basically just a Tempest body.... looking like a "normal car" back then.
now it looks like a muscle car... b/c it looks way diff from and NEW cars on the road etc... but back then it didnt... HINT: why the new one looks so "normal/average"

from there I will say...
LOOKS EXTERIOR: Cobra
LOOKS INTERIOR: GTO
ENGINE: GTO (all tho the coby does have a SC... still ls2=sick)
VALUE: hmmm, not sure... both should be valued high and climb in value over years.

Overall I would go with the 05 GTO.

good luck.

GM is struggling to survive and the GTO was a flop. The only thing you have going for you is the LS2(?) under the hood. There are already rumors about halting the GTO production.

Quite frankly...I am suprised you would ask which to get "06 Mustang or GTO" on a Mustang message board. You will more then likely get a biased response...ya think?

Save your dough and splurge for the 06/07 Cobra...if it ever comes out.
Umm..as far as I knew, these were already spoken for 100%

It's pretty easy to get a Cobra to over 450 RWHP. Like....1000 bucks easy. You can't do that with a GTO.

For all you people talking about the gt500... Have you driven a new mustang? I've driven 5.0's, s95 gt's and one cobra, I have a 00 gt, and have driven an 05 gt and v6.

The only model that feels like you're driving a 1980 cadillac is the 05+'s. They are freaking huge. It just doesnt feel like a sports car. Since the cobra is going to be the same and heavier; i dont imagine its going to feel any smaller.

I wish they'd bring back the 99-04 body style with some updates.

I had a 2005 Mustang. It's not huge, it has a wider stance. I have 4 Mustangs in my garage, and the 2005, measures right up with the SN95. It just feels a little bit differant because it's got the wider stance, but it's not longer by much if at all. From edmunds.com - the Length of the 2005 Mustang GT is 187.6 in. while for the 2004 is 183.2 in. Not that much of a differance, all of 4.4 inches.

I'm just talking how it feels when you drive it.
