Default My 2002 GT vs Big mouth cousins 94 vette

I posted in here a month or so ago about a big mouth cousin of mine who keeps running his chops about how I wouldn't even get a sniff of his mighty vette if we run. I did a few things to mine cold air intake, tri ax shifter, IAT chip, 373 ring & pinion, dyno duel exhaust and a few other little things. It was one of those deals where everytime Id see him he would start telling me how fast he runs and running my GT down around alot of people too. Well I knew my car was pretty quick so I called the original owner and he already had 373s installed in it , which explains my higher tac readings at 65. So we agree on where to run mostly straight but some curves that I even have to down shift, more like a 2-3 mile road course mostly straight. I beat him off the start so bad it wasn't even funny ( he has auto tranny ) once I got around him I walked away. So get this I kick his *** once and he want to race back. He did get a better start but at 1/8 we were door to door and I just went buy. Dont get me wrong, he hung pretty close 3 car legnths. I told him there is something wrong with his car. I shouldn't really be able to own him like that. I didn't know he had 95k miles on it so that didn't help him. One thing for sure... he dosen't even talk about cars if there are people around. And I am playing the bigger man, I don't even bring up the *** beating I gave him. I just smile. I do have a question though, those higher miles on that car would take some of the HP and torque out of it wouldnt they?

This place is an awesome place to run. Almost no traffic, you can see at least a mile1/2 ahead all the time, 2 wide lanes and 1 curve that you have to gear down but you can get back in the throttle pretty fast.... its a BLAST.

Give me your opinion on the mileage on his car being such a factor.

Ive raced an early 90's vette at the track before. I ran 14flats while she was running mid 14's. The older ones aren't nearly as fast as the new ones are.

Nice, I ran one from like 65-115ish... he pulled like a half car when i was completely stock. 4th gear in our car is a dog...

The miles don't really hurt the car if it was well maintained. Newer engines do not wear out like the old (from the 60's,70's) engines did. A lot of this is due to better oil and better tolorances and fuel injection. The Vette stock was most likley a mid-low 14 car, right about where you were stock so with your mods, I am not surprised by the outcome. Just cause it is a Vette does not mean it's fast.

I personally think the gearing was the diff. with 373s in 4th aren't doggie. I was gonna do 410s but when I found out it already had 373s in it, Im not going to change it.

Unfortunately I have both and my 94 Vet will stomp my Stang really bad, so maybe you are a much better driver or were pushing it more? There are many factors to consider but car for car the LT1 Corvette should walk away from a Mustang.

I got 3:73's in mine and 4th is just as strong as 3rd..4:10's sounded good but im looking for future mods and the kb unit and 4:10's would be hard to hook up i bet..
