good call. those are the only good looking ls1's...and the cts-v too..but thats also a little pricy. u made the better decision...a camaro cant compare in looks, if you ask me. ws6 is hot and vette is pure sex. both with a price tag tho. for the money, the GT is a good car i think.

Yeah, it is; i really like the way they look. When i bought it i thought it was fast, however after losing to srt4's etc... it really bothers me how slow they are in comparision, oh well.

The problem we all have is weight to power ratio. With this in mind we usually dont come out well. Take a car that weighs nothing and put a turbo on it and WOW. However....SRT's dont last long. Their engines just cant handle the compression long. Some other things that you didnt mention about Mustangs though...more parts, cheaper parts, more tech on installing parts, best group of people on earth are Mustang owners. I am very active in our club which I am a founding member of and we are over 200 strong in one city. I wouldnt give anything for the times I have had. (www.southernmustangandford.com) Can go to that site and in videos you can see me do a sick burnout under "SHANE burnout". Anyhow...if you really want a sick car then the Cobra is the way to go. I say save your money and get an 03/04. With a couple grand you can have 500 at the wheel EASY. However with lots of money you can have 400 with a stock motor and good supercharger set up with a good tune. Or spend even more and rebuild your motor. Heck we even have a 2500 horsepower mustang with a fully built motor and twin 76 turbochargers. Didnt mean to come accross pissy about the gas..but it's annoying when people complain about gas and insurance when they bought the car in the first place. But since we are on the subject...I want my supercharged GT with 42 pound injectors and twin Cobra pumps back cause this Cobra is killing me on GAS!!!(feel better)

Me too.

There is another forum that has a sticky of a guy running 4.10's He did videos of before and after. He NEVER loses the top end. He demonstrates pulling from 0-60, and about 60-120 or so. He doesn't lose any top end, and I've never heard of ANY Mustang topping out at 110 with gears.

That's rediculous.

4.10s aren't the only gear out there. 3.73, 3.55, 3.90 are also available.
Any gear will have the following effect: You'll accellerate through your RPMs faster but the top MPH in any particular gear will be lower.

Why to get them: These cars are slugs in low RPMs. Gears boost the time to get from 1000 - 4000 RPMs in every gear. And I don't just mean a little bit. These cars weight alot and it takes quite a bit just to get moving, these gears are like an extra push. They also rip through the 4000-5750 quite well (even more so than before).
The down side is that the speed range for each gear is shifted downward. So instead of having top speeds like 40 in first, 72 in second, 103 in third, 135 in fourth and you'll never reach the top of 5th... It could go down to 30 in first, 60 in second, 87 in third, 110 in fourth, and 150 in fifth.

Well, lets face it... you'll never take your stang over 150, especially naturally aspirated. It's nice to know you can but anyone who has gotten there knows that the car becomes extremely dangerous. Further, why the hell should you have to continuously downshift everytime you want to pass someone (like you do in the stock setup). Seriously, it opens up the lower RPMs in the higher gears that you'll never use otherwise. This can result in gas savings around town. The draw back is crusing in 5th may burn a little more gas than normal but it's been shown that this is minimal and under normal mixed driving conditions, it's completely counter balanced. And I garauntee that without a serious supercharger or some nitrous, you'll never have to shift into 5th in the quarter mile anyway so it'll ALWAYs be better for you to have gears. To any comments that you would fall on your face after 110. Well, you try driving at 110mph in 5th without gears and you'll be twice as slow as the guy with gears.

Headers on the otherhand will make the lower RPMs even more useless since it shifts your powerband upward. Sure the peak may be a little high but that only matters in those few moments that you're over 5000 RPMs... On the otherhand, the slightly suckier low end is something you'll be dealing with all the time.

Mostly common sense really

But I guess since so many people ask about gears all the time, it's good to state the obvious now and again.

Gears are definitely worth it any way you look at them. If your worried about a 2mpg loss...well, you could always get a Neon?
