I bought some new emblems to replace the stock GT on the sides. How do I take off the old ones. I haven't tried yet because I don't want to mess it up.
you can take a hair drier and heat up where the emblem sticks to the fender. this will soften the adhesive. gently pull on the emblem & keep heating it up. drier doesn't get hot enough to hurt the paint. work at it till it comes off. go to the parts store & get some adhesive remover, & there ya go.
Also use some monofilament fishing line or dental floss in a sawing manner behind the GT emblems after heating them to loosen the adhesive.
I've heard several people recommend this, but I couldn't get it to work very well. I pulled all the emblems off my '03 F150, and my Stang, and for both I was able to use a heat gun on low, and just pulled thm off. When I tried the fishing line it just tore the foam tape adhesive, and left more to clean up. Just an FYI of my experience... Either way it's nothing difficult...
Fishing line or dental floss, floss breaks though. You just need to loosen the foam from the tape and should be able to pry/pull the emblem off. Clean up the paint with some automotive bug and tar remover.
