There are races such as the Silver State Challenge that are sanctioned top speed races. IMO it's not crazy to go that fast but I think the original poster is just kinda asking in general.

Call me crazy, but I would LOVE to go that fast.
But hell, if it's dangerous and I can get hurt...I'm there. There are far too many insanely fun things to do in this short lifetime without having to worry about how dangerous they are.
But with that being said, there is a fine-line between crazy fun and being the next winner of the Darwin Award.

Thank you qQuickshift, thats what I was getting at. Nathan I said my numbers were not accurate, but I can tell you that 20 hp will not get another 10 mph at that speed. Look at it this way, before my headers and cam I got a 110 mph trap speed out of my car and after it went 115. So I gained 5 mph, but I bet I got a solid 45 rwhp from those two mods.

or maybe at speeds that high that hood scoop thing of mine actually does help more than i thought it did.

i was just curious to see what you guys thought, i believe it to be a great discussion question. I asked because i've seen articles of street legal vipers going 200+ mph and I value the competition of the best car in the world i.e. ford mustang. btw, everytime you get behind the wheel, you are taking a risk, no matter where you are (street/strip) or how fast you are going (mechanical error/human error). I liked the responses I got, mustang forums rules!

I don't doubt it hit 140mph but thats pretty much as fast as it can go. And he had two people in the car with him? Must have been the two dumbest people on earth
There were a couple of top speed tests that had the 99-04 style GT in them. A stock GT Mustang hit like 141mph and that was all she had. Then a LS1 stock Camaro and Trans Am did 160+mph. I'll look for the 2 different tests.

I hit 117 in THIRD @ 13-14 seconds, so I'm sure 140 is easily attainable, though the fastest I've had my car (on the road mind yu) was 137.... Now, I know its a 4v, and 305 bhp (+mods), but still, and regardless why is this post even here? you'd have to be retarded to go that fast, its asking to die...
