Default Which One?

I posted this in the V6 forum and the overall responce is mainly GT, but I'd figure I'd ask the people that actually have a V8 and who knows which would be better. Currently I have a 98 sixer, but I'm trying to get the money for a 97 Cobra, but I'm borrowing the money from my grandmother and she said that if she is going to help me get another car she would much rather it be a new 06 GT, so my question is, which one should I get, a 97 Cobra with 55K miles for $10500, it already has a cai, borlas, a mac h pipe, steeda pulleys, and several other cosmettic mods, or should I get the ne 06 GT which will be roughly 23-27K, depending on rebates. Now here's the deal, I drive 184 miles round trip 3 days a week to school but I only have 2 1/2years left, so I'm looking at roughly 50K over those two years, and I plan on doing all of the basic bolt ons if I got a GT, but the overall cost for the GT, even in the long run, will be more. Just want to get you guys to give me some input so I can furthur consider which one.

and i'll tell you the same thing here. the 05 GT. you take a gamble with ANY used car. if you're going to get a high performance car, do it right the first time.

Kinda funny isn't it. Man we argue too much, we need a beer.[sm=icon_cheers.gif] Now back on topic, which one GT or Cobra, the sixer forum is swinging more and more towards the GT, but I would like some more advice from actuall V8 owners.

That's entirely up to you. What can you afford? How big of a payment do you want? Will you be able to afford all of your boltons and a high payment on a new GT?

I'll be able to get a GT 500 if I wanted, but I don't want one. My grandmother is either going to just flat out give me the money, she's rich as hell, or she'll cosign for me if the bank won't let her cash out one or two of her cds. Now I can afford the bolt ons for both, hell in the last eight months I droped over 2K in my six, not to mention right after I bought the car I installed a stalker kit, which has since been destroyed by a slight accident on the interstate with a box full of crap meeting my front bumper at 75mph. But point is the new GT mods do cost more and it would take me longer to get the car moded because of that. So this is the dellima I'm facing.

I think that I would definitely take a new GT over a 97 Cobra that you know has been run hard. Plus it's hard to know exactly what kind of care was put into the cobra. How often was the oil changed etc......... The new 3 valve motors have alot of potential.

Well personally, if you're not buying then get the new GT. It will be worth more when you go to sell/trade it in. Get the Cervinis eleanor kit on it. Looks sweet. Not to mention with a procharger or vortech you are looking at 500rwhp on a modest tune.

i'd go with the GT. mainly because you are gonna have a full warranty and all the miles driven will be by you and you'll know how it's been treated. Also the 3v 4.6 has higher flow than the 4v 4.6. plenty of potential. And IMO the new ones look freakin awesome
