well you have to make sure it is aligned correctly or else it will whine. Call ford and see what they will quote you because that seems low for a dealership to do it. Many people here get FRPP and have no problems what so ever.

My gear install was $150 at a local performance shop.

Gears were 200, install kit was 100, extra shims were like 15, install was 150

My gears do whine, now wether its 100% the gear, or how much of it was the install, I dont know. I might be pulling it the pumpkin cover off and checking the allignment sometime.

Well I always do all the work on my car, but for some reason installing gears really, seem like a challenge to me. Something I would rather just pay someone and not worry about it. I just wanted to know for sure which gears are th best. Because I was set on the FRPP until that guy at shell put doupt in my mind. Also I dont know if the installer will have the shimes or if I need to supply them. I really kinda want to install them myself, but it sucks being stuck under my car without a lift, also I am going into the air force in 3 weeks, so when I get back from basic and tech school I am going to have to drive cross country like 2000-3000 miles. I want to make sure I wont have a problem along the way. I know I should do it when I get there, but I am too anxious to see what the gears will do with my set-up. I dont care about the extra gas mileage. The military pays for travel.

I bought a Motive Rear End Rebuild Kit from mustangtuning....came with all necessary shims and replacement bearings, gaskets, etc. Its nice to freshen everthing up in the rear end along with your gears. Just something to think about:

Edit: I just saw that you posted this in the thread (didn't feel like reading)....I have had ZERO problems with my rear end, and I have this exact setup. Its a quality part.

I have a question that I have never heard. By installing 4.10's how much does it decrease the 0-60mph times, and the 1/4 mile times? Anyone tested that?

I know I am going to have suck bad bad traction problems in 1st and 2nd.
