Default Which ring and pinion gear set is best?

I am going to order some 4:10 gears tonight, so they will be shipped out tomorrow. What is the best brand to buy, also I am going to have ford install them, I think I am going to call tomorrow for an estimate. But what else will I need to order to complete the install, if so please suggest a brand for the shim and etc. kit. Thanks!

Go with FRPP. You should only need the gears and fluid unless you have over 60000 miles. Then you will need the master bearing kit. www.mustangtuning.com has a pretty good combo deal on the gears with fluid and a tuner.

FRPP for DD and/or racing. Richmond only for racing. In short just get the FRPP

my richmond gears are on a DD[sm=badidea.gif]

Whats DD??

So all I should buy is the gears and some gear oil? Should I just buy this shim set just incase. http://www.mustangtuning.com/moinkit8re.html Because I dont want ford to say, nope cant install it without the hardware.

Or should I just buy the shims and the bearings and I guess pay the extra money to have ford install new bearings too. http://www.mustangtuning.com/rearendrebuild.html

Would motive gear install kit be the best install kit?

You might want to shop around for someone to install it. Ford will probably charge out the rear to do that.

I asked a guy that worked at shell in my town how much to install them, and if they would. He said he builds mustangs on the side, and he has had problems with FRPP , he only uses richmond gears, thats why I am asking this question. But He said its very easy to do, but I am to nervous to do it myself. But he said ford probably would charge $150 to install the. I will shop around, but I want to make sure its installed right, so I dont mind paying a little more.

FRPP`s are supposed to be the easiest to install with less shimming. Therefore, you sholdnt have any problems with those. If ford is gonna charge you $150, let them do it. $200 is the cheapest ive ever heard for a gear install.
