Default 1997 convertible cobra for $9400?

hey, i've found this 1997 convertible cobra with a new top, leather seats, new wheels for 6988 at a dealer, or $7400 with taxes. The guy is a wholesaler and i guess he just wants to sell it. It's in perfect condition (a scratch here and there) and the engine looks like it's brand new. The only problem is that it has 115,000 miles on it. The carfax says it hasn't been involved in any accidents though.

Well I looked at it's private party value on kelly blue book and it showed up as like $8300. So I was planning on buying the car, waiting until summer and selling it for like 8-9 thousand and making a profit of 1-2 grand. Then I talked to a kid at my school that is training to become a mechanic and says that if the clutch hasn't been replaced, then that would be 1500 more and that 115 thousand miles is way too much for the price that it's being offered, let alone what I would increase it to sell.

So my question for you guys is: do you all agree with my friend and that this car is not a good buy?

here are some pics:

would someone buy it for like 9400?
the only reason i'd buy this car is to make a profit so that i can get a 95 GT without having to borrow money. I'd have to borrow to buy this cobra but then once i sold it i would be able to repay the loan and buy the gt without having to take one out.

1500 for a clutch? Hahaha he needs to study his book more or learn to work faster.

How much are you going to get it for? Your topic says $9400 and then your post says $6800?

I can't tell if it's a good buy. Car fax means crap, believe me when I say it, if you pay for the wreck out of your pocket, there is no record on car fax.

Check the fenders for any tape marks, does everything line up perfect? Or do all the panels line up poorly?

That thing is purrdy.

It is a good purchase if you plan on keeping it.....but I don't think you are going to get a profit reselling it....thats a lot of miles.

Thats a great price on it! I bought one similar price/miles but a coupe, and I have had no issues at all. Nothing vibrating, no leaks, no noises from the engine compartment that shouldnt be there.. just good o'l fashion ford gear whine from the back end.
You can sell it for more then you paid for it at that price easily. Just give it a good wax job and put a forsale sign in it and list it in autotrader.

I agree with 115,000 miles you will probably not make a profit on it. But looks like a good car if your going to keep it. Don't fall for that Wholesaler crap don't you think the guy would sell it for as much as he can get. In other words If he could sell it for $9400 he would be selling it for that

Thanks for the advice guys. Eh, it is pretty nice but i don't want to take out a loan that i can't pay back to buy a car.
