All the symptoms you have described are consistant with a bad or failing fuel pump. That's what I think it is.

ORIGINAL: CJFANNI

Why not did they start that in 2000?
No. It's just a simple diagnostics tool, and it also throws off false readings all the time. Do you know how many people make threads here freaking out saying they have a DTC 5284 code in their odometer? LOL

You can only pull ODBII codes with a scanner.

will doing an idle fuel pressure test show if my fuel pump is dying? and will a bad fuel pump cause lines to pop off?

I guess it could be the EGR, but I'd expect that it would run rough. My friend had a '99 Cobra and he had plenty of power. May be stupid, but I'd also try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes and let the computer reset. No guaranties, but it's worth a shot.

You'll need to do a fuel pressure test while the motor is under load. Testing the fuel pressure at idle won't work. A bad pump wouldn't necessarily make a fuel line to come loose, but a bi-product of a bad fuel pump might. First things first. Check your fuel pressure under load. If the needle holds steady or drops off, even a little bit, 9 times out of 10 your pump is bad or failing.

the link for the pic doesnt work. but if that hose is disconnected/leaking then that will def. make you loose power. vac leaks are always the first tjhing to look for/fix b4 you spend money on fuel pumps, plugs, wires, etc...

the problem I'm going to have with doing a fuel pressure test under load is if I get on the throttle the line will pop off. I'm thinking of just taking it into the dealership tomorrow.

well I took my car to the dealership and the problem was a clogged cat causing too much backpressure making the hose blow off and killing my power and it's going to be covered under warranty.
