Default Tranny Question

how much diff does a 4spd auto against a 5 spd auto make, and the AODE thats 4+OD making a total of 5 or is it 3+OD making a total of 4 gears?

5 speed auto's, like the '05 GT's are 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th and then OD. 4 speed auto's like the 79-04 (might be after 79, not 100% sure) are 1st,2nd,3rd, OD.

does it make a big difernece? basically im trying to compete with manauls, im gettin shift kit nd converter will i be able to compare from a roll?

If you have enough HP and a good shift kit, your consistency will be much greater than that of a standard in a one on one race. That is simply because not all drivers are equal at the fine art of manual shifting. Miss or screw up a smooth shift and you're going to be toast. That stands to reason with any one on one race. One more thing you don't have to worry about when you have a well tuned auto with a good shift kit. Check out this site for a shift kit. They have a real good reputation and will not fry your OD 4th gear as some shift kts are prone to do:
