MGW Shifter review:
I took my Cobra out of storage today to install my MGW Shifter I bought...
Anyways!
Needed an 8mm, 10mm and 13mm socket with atleast a 6" extention and a puddy knife for the install! Took about 5 minutes to get the stock shifter off and about 10 minutes to put the MGW in because I dropped a huge glob of RTV into the tranny and had to scoop it out (hahahaha WHOOPS). Everything was HIGH QUALITY, unbelievable quality actually. I didn't even bother with the instructions because it's pretty straight forward.
The only issue I had was with the STOP's, you back them off to where you want them set & then you use the supplied nut to lock them in place, well I put the nut with the lock washers on and gave it a 1/4 turn with a socket and it just spun the whole thing and totally screwed up the way I had it adjusted, I don't see why they even included the nut and didn't recommend a small amount of loctite instead.
As for the shifting, OMG, huge difference over stock. I noticed that a LOT of the vibrations and noise doesn't find it's way through the shifter, I was able to use the stock shift boot too, so that helped cut down on noise. The 1-2 shift now is lightning quick and it's going to be nearly impossible to miss a gear!!
A+ for the MGW!!
Also, I was half in the bag when I ordered the shifter and accidently ordered a T5 shiftter, I have no idea how they figured out I had a Cobra, but some lady from MGW called me up and mentioned it wouldn't fit on a T56 and I was like "WTF, I ordered the one for a T56..what are you talking about?" But she said I ordered the wrong one and e-mailed me another receipt of my purchase and damn, I did order the wrong one!!
The shifter came with HIGHLY detailed instructions (I'm looking at them right now). I think a dyslexic 5 year old could install this thing! It also came with a small tube of RTV and an allen wrench to adjust the shifter stops!!

Dan04Cobra, How funny I just got done maybe an hour ago installing my MGW shifter. It is a night and day diffrence. Dan the instructions I have (from MGW) recommeded taking out the shift stops if you had a Tremec T-56 or a 3650, something about them having internal stops.....

I saw that too. I pushed the shifter as far as I could and left about 3/16th's between the shifter and stops, I guess for my own comfort as I absolutely raped my 02 GT's 3650 so many times it made the most god awful sound when I overshifted.
Finding Reverse was a little difficult, but I've only driven about 2 miles with it installed before I put it back in storage, so I've had no time to get used to it... I was surprised how short the 2-3 shift was!! I've used a Pro 5.0 and a Steeda in some friends Mustangs but none of them felt as short and as tight at the MGW.
What do you guys think?
