well, see i don't really care about power because you really dont get much from a cold air and i dont wanna spend too much money on an intake cause im going to be buying a MAC O/R x pipe or a MAC prochamber soon too. I want to get the fender induction, but basically im buying a cold air because its so hard to keep the rubber stock intake clean and i keep a new filter so all these come with a filter instead of paying like 50 for a K&N. Does anything know if you can just use the K&N recharge cleaner for these other filters?? thanks

In general those shiny coated aluminum ones start to get pitting and look like crap after a few months. A plastic one is both more practical and useful since it doesn't soak up engine bay heat and never degrades in appearance. A nice K&N is completely cleanable, reuseable, and flows well. On the otherhand, it costs a bit for the cleaning kit and you're not likely to save much money in the long run with a reusable filter. I'd still recommend one anyway.

Nanaki is right on. the difference in CAI's is about + or - 1 hp. But, one thing that will help some is getting one with a heat shield. I would only buy one with a heat shield. 5.0 magazine did like a 8 way test with different CAI's recently, and they were all very close as far as gains go. But the one's that had a heat shield did better.

I gained 3hp, by putting the heatshield on my JLT.

i got the steeda, which has a heat shield...ive heard good things about it on other boards and everyone that has one said doesnt have anything negative to say so im glad with my decision...now im debating on whether i should go with trick flow 70mm throttle body / upper intake plenum or accufab 70mm throttle body / upper intake plenum any thoughts on that one?
