Default HydroBoost??

Hi all---Im working on modernizing my 68 coupe and need some advice as far as brakes go--Id like to put a modern cobra or GT master cylinder with a hydrobooster into my car for a four-wheel disc setup-however, i am not totally sure how the hydrobooster works---is it the same principal as a vaccuum booster only with fluid---with a seperate pump--i just need some clarification--thanks!!
