quick spark plug question
I'm going throw some new plugs in my ride (hopefully today), but I'm not sure the torque specs for the plugs on my car. I know the recommended gap, and a general 11-19lbs for a 12mm plug, but... Anyways getting to the point, does anyone know the torque for a 99 gt spark plug? thanks a million.

RE: quick spark plug question
thanks bro, the autolite double p's say .054 gap, but I actually went about .052, .054 seems large. I'm gonna throw em in at 11lbs torque I think. See what happens. thanks again for the fast reply.

RE: quick spark plug question
Its pretty easy, just unbolt the coil for each cylinder one at a time, so you dont get them mixxed up, then pull it out. There will be a little bit or resistance, and suction so dont worry pull pretty hard. Then get those out, you have to bend them around the fuel rail, but they all ca be taken out without removing the fuel rail. Then with then coil out of the way stick a 5/8" deep socket that has a rubber peice in it, that is specificly made for spark plugs. The rubber peice will hold the spark plug in place so you can pull it out, also it wont damage it. Use that socket with a 6" extension and take the old one out and put the new one in. Make sure its gaped right, .052" and torque to 10lb ft. If the socket comed off the extension and you fear its stuck in the hole. put the extension back on and lightly pull back on it with a circular motion and it will eventually come out. Pretty easy, it looks harder than it really is. I dont know what the torque is for the coil packs, I couldnt find the specs, so I hand tightened them, not to tight though. Thight enough so they wouldnt move around. Good luck.

RE: quick spark plug question
thanks again, it just looked like alot of stuff needed to come off, like the fuel rail, and air intake, but I'm gonna see what I can do. The plugs on the explorer are in alot nicer location. Thanks again for the info
