AUTO VS. MANUAL

RE: AUTO VS. MANUAL
I would say it doesn't really matter. You have to be real about what you're going to do with it. If your going to light up that rubber every day leaving your driveway and drag racing it to school then maybe it would. [:@]
It also depends on where you live and how much traffic you have. Sitting in traffic, moving a few inches at a time is not my idea of fun with a manual.
Now chillin in the traffic, kickin it with one of my ladies with that automatic I can dig that. Lets be real, the difference out of the hole in real life driving probably won't matter except to THE MAN. (You know, the blue light five-0).
I'll holla at ya later,

RE: AUTO VS. MANUAL
yeah. Also consider how much work you plan to do to it yourself. I bought a 97 GT with a 5 speed. I have a transmission rebuild kit sitting in my room for it (new synchros and seals). I have a pretty good mechanical ability (studying to be a master tech) and a manual transmission looks like a simple gearbox to me, but have you seen an automatic?? whew.
It is all about preference. If it was up to me, and I was going to make an all out drag car, automatic is the way to go. Even when shifting, you never lose RPMS. Yes driving in heavy traffic with a manual SUX but I don't do that too often to be too much of a pain. I just also like how a manual sounds pulling away, especially with a throaty V8.
My girlfriend is an avid automatic supporter. I am pretty much for the manuals. Also consider maintenance. Automatics generally don't require much, but when they do, it's usually more expensive. On the flip side, manuals have more frequent, but cheaper maintenance.
