4.6L engines don't run well with out OIL......anyone here know of a good place to fine a decent used engine? Also how hard would it be to swap out to a cobra? I'm sure it has been done before...

i dont think its the 4.6's problem..most engines dont run well without oil,lol but look for a write up and try junk yards

Just buy a rebuilt short block from an auto parts store. I spun a bearing once and got one for a grand + core I think. That was years ago though. Anybody work at an auto store that knows the price of a stock rebuilt short blk?

you can get decent deals at junkyards, there are tons of wrecked stangs out there. i got my saleen motor on ebay pretty cheap considering it came supercharged. they usually have at least a dozen on there. if you got the money, crate motor!

there is a junk yard here that wants 500 for a used 4.6 PI. its not a bad deal at all, ive been thinking of getting it if its still there in a couple weeks.

There are hard to find. What junk yard did you find one at? In Canada they go for $2500 Canadian used. Let me know if you want that contact in Ontario-pm me. As well this site http://www.mpsautosalvage.com/parting/index.cfm They have some used ones and they emailed me $1,250 USD for the mod motors. May want to check them out if they are close to you.

I wanted to do the 3 valve swap as well, but I have heard nothing but bad things about it. As well, my mechanic is not too keen on doing the swap and the electrical and all the wiring etc. If you wouldn't mind let me know if you find more than one used motor because I need something cheaper than $1750 Canadian and up.
