Default COBRA MOTOR QUESTION

Alright, have a question for you guys. I have an 03 GT that I really wanted to boost the hp. numbers but staying N/A. I wanted to do the CHP 5.1 stroker kit and stage 3 heads with cams and a P-51 intake. This sounded pretty good, but Ive been hearing how stroker kits are bad on the N/A and only work on boosted applications. Basically Id like about 450 hp at the wheels...nothing really crazy. I drive this thing every day and want a solid dependable N/A motor. So overall, it doesnt seem like the 2V motor has much potential without boost or juice. So my question is if I found like a 2000-2001 cobra motor and do the swap, but build the crap out of it, with P&P heads, cams, forged internals(stroked?), all the bolt ons, is my 450rwhp still too much to ask, or is my only hope a supercharger for those numbers?

You will not come anywhere close to 400 much less 450rwhp from a 2V N/A. It's also gonna take quite alot to get 450rwhp out of a N/A 4V, not saying it can't be done, but it will take quite alot. I, personally am not a big fan of the stroker, but again that's just me. Do some more searching for your stroker kits, there are better kits available than CHP. I talked with them when I was preparing for my build and wasn't impressed. Not trying to start anything, just giving you my opinion and experience.

You will never see 450rwhp out of a N/A 2v. Your gonna have to supercharge it or turbo it for those kind of numbers. And 450rwhp out of a N/A 4v would be tough and I'm not sure it can be done. But I wish you the best and do what you can to make 450rwhp N/A.

I was doin some research and found another company that offers complete short blocks. Im sure you guys have heard of Need4Speed. The have 5.0 stroker outlaw 4v blocks. there a 2003 casting so there the iron block with forges pistons, rods, and crank. They also have a line of comp cams for the 4V from a stage 1 to a stage 4 specifically for a N/A application. Im not lookin for 900 horse, just a strong, fun reliable daily driver. Let me know what you think about that company and kinda point me in the right direction...thanks for the input

You want N/A 450 RWHP, it will cost you big $$$. Look here:

Check out the middle DOHC. You would do better with a bottle for a blower for the price. Good luck with your plans.

wow thats some serious cash for what you get. I was on VT engines, and they have a long block 4V all forged with P&P heads with your choice of billet cams. Its 8200, and Id probably get sullivans intake, and go with the Cobra T56. I did some calculations and the long block, intake, TB, and tranny will set mt back about 12000, so about 15,000 said and done(hopefully). I want a reliable bulletproof setup, and this is the best ive found so far. I think Ill just live with whatever hp that combo gets me...
