Default difference in engines between 1999 through 2004 4.6

I am not yet a mustang owner. but im saving up some cash for the next couple of years. I would like to know the differences between the GT engine, Mach 1 engine and the Cobra engine. I am planning on using the intercooled 9lb kenny belle s/c kit when i purchase the car.

so if i could get some engine specs that would be great!

THANKS

GT - 4.6L SOHC 2v with 260hp and 302lbs/tq
Mach 1 - 4.6L DOHC 4v with 305hp and I think like 325lbs/tq
03/04 Cobra - same as Mach, but has forged internals and a supercharger
The Cobras in 99 and 01 came with the same engine as the Mach 1's.

If you can afford the Cobra get it, already supercharged and just add a smaller pulled and some exhaust and you'd be set, if thats out of your price range, ($25,000 or more) which is what the Cobra will run you now. In 2 years you might be able to buy one for around 20k. Just save up and put a big downpayment on the 07 Cobra.

Not quite the same, closer to 390HP, if you are buying a car with extra 5grand to spend on a KB you should just get a 03/04 Cobra

I love the mach 1 and the cobra look. but i love the mach1 shaker hood ALOT.
I dont like the look of the new mustang, it doesnt look mean enough... thats just me though. I have looked at the prices on the mach 1's and cobras and there is like 15k difference from what i have found. I am in Canada so the prices are a little higher :P

Get the 03-04 Cobra if you can afford it. They are beats and have unlimited potential.

The Mach 1 engine is not identical to the Cobra engines S/C or N/A.

And lets all not forget that the 390HP rating of the 03/04 Cobra is very, very conservative.

99-04 GT has a cast iron block and the connecting rods, crank, and pistons are only rated to about 450 or so crank power, give or take depending on what RPMs that power is at. It redlines at 5800 RPMs

01 bullitt is the same as the GT except that is has slightly more power and torque because it has a much better intake manifold and underdrive pulleys.

All of the above engines are 281 cubic inches, SOHC, 16 valve engines.

99, 01 cobra and 03/04 mach 1 are aluminum blocks and have a stronger crank than GTs. They are also have 32 valves controlled but DOHC heads. They're significantly more powerful and the engines are lighter. The pistons and connecting rods have a similar tolerance for power but it's easier to get that power out of them than with the GT. The heads and intake designs are somewhat different between the cobra and the machs but it's nothing to write home about.
These cars redline at 6500 RPMs. The only exception, I believe, is automatic machs ( I dont think they made any automatic cobras in 99 or 01). The automatic machs have the GT crank so they only redline at 5800 RPMs.

the 03, 04 cobra has a cast iron block, same crank as the other cobra engines but it also has forged pistons and connecting rods. Additionally, the compression has been lower so that it can handle higher boost safely. This engine starts out with 390 hp, 390 torque with a supercharger but is easily modded to make much more power. These cars are still extremely expensive as well.

99-04 GT - 260 hp, 302 torque
01 Bullitt - 265 hp, 315 torque
99, 01, 02 cobra - 320 hp, 317 torque (slightly over rated hp) (02 cobra is only in australia)
00 cobra R - 385 hp, 385 torque (5.4L engine, naturally aspirated, these go for 50k)
03, 04 mach - 305hp, 320 torque
03, 04 cobra - 390hp, 390 torque
