Aftermarket Midpipe VS CAI+T-Body+Plenum

Aftermarket Midpipe VS CAI+T-Body+Plenum
I was wondering, as far as hp gains alone go, what would get you more ponies? A Cold Air Intake, a 70mm plenum + Throttle body, or an aftermarket Midpipe, either O/R or with highflow cats? How much Hp would be expected for these mods? Without a tune? With a tune? It would seem that for about the price of a quality aftermarket midpipe, you could get a CAI and a throttle body + plenum combo. So which would give you the best bang for the buck? Considering gains alone, not the fact that exhaust gives you a meaner sound.

well deciding on a midpipe is really turning out to be impossible. I am the most undecisive person in the world. I think I am going to get my catback installed now and see how I like the tone. If there is something about it I dont like, I am going to buy an aftermarket midpipe to modify it so to speak. I was just wondering what kind of gains I can expect from a CAI + T-Body + Plenum. I will probably end up going with the Mid-Pipe instead of the intake components listed above. I hear gains for the midpipe is about 4 or 5, does that sound about right?

4-5whp from losing 6 cats??!? ummm I was under the understanding it was more like 10-14whp...i plan on installing one of these shortly with a tuner, and i'm now starting to rethink what gains i'll receive.

correct me if im wrong
a guess on the gain would be about 5rwhp if you have no other mods, but with an aftermarket intake,
it will produce more, also even more after LT and catback
so from 5-15 depending on mods

RE: Aftermarket Midpipe VS CAI+T-Body+Plenum
I know my current Mustang (2001) has 4 cats, as did my 98GT, when I had it. Not exactly sure what years has 6 cats, in fact I didn't know they ever did.
But anyway, I was planning on getting a midpipe to go with my Cat-Back, however now I am considering getting CAI, Plenum and Throttle Body, for a considerably similar price. I know that exhaust gives you more than performance gains, but if the cai, plenum and throttle body would give me considerably more, then I might just get that instead. Anybody know how much the above mods would gain a stock GT?

maybe 10 from each, and i think 96 and 97s had 6 cats cause i kno mine does. Getting the intake and then a midpipe and cat back would give you the good gains, and some LT headers would really help.

RE: Aftermarket Midpipe VS CAI+T-Body+Plenum
a mid pipe and catback will only give you about 6rwhp combined if thats your only mod. horsepower from these bolt on's is all about air flow. basically what i'm saying is that for every part you upgrade to increase your air flow the better each mod will help out. so i wouldn't expect much from either of the mods listed above as far as horsepower. but it's always good to start out with exhaust. it'll make your car sound alot better, and will lay the groundwork for a better flowing engine, so when you do decide to do a tb and plenum it'll actually be worth it and you'll see descent gains.
