Default MGW short throw with 3650

Anyone installed one on the 3650 trans? Did you use the stop bolts?

I believe in the instructions of the MGW, it says that you have internal stops and it was not needed to install them.

it says DO NOT use the stops...the internal stops are built in and using the shifter stops may prevent the tranny from fullly going into gear!

I know it SAYS not to use them. It just doesn't feel like the tranny stops are very rigid, or are too far out. I can put the car into car and push the shifter much further that seems wanted.

Set them so you have an 1/8" of play. As long as it fully goes into gear you won't hurt anything by using the stops.

Is it worth it for 180 bucks?

I drove a Cobra with this reall stiff, rachety shifter...not sure what kind it was. I liked it.

I'd pay $250 for it if I had to.

I would recommend you do not use the shift stops with the short shifter, since the transmission has them built in there is no need to use them. Also it may be detrimental to the transmission as the transmission may not fully engage the gear and you may damage the transmission.

The simple question is, why would you use the shift stops with the shifter if your transmission has them already and the manufacturer of the transmission strongly recommends against using the ones with the shifter. Seems a no brainer to me.

Because the 3650 'built in stops' are junk.

Ask me what my old GT used to sound like when she got overshifted hard into 2nd or 3rd..
