Default My motor is confirmed as the s281-e

Just thought id share my good news, got word back from the original owner. Turns out he added the series 2 afterwards, and that it is the built extreme motor. Guess the story is he swapped the motor out of a saleen extreme, and it didnt have the series 5 on it so he bought the series 2 for it. He contacted saleen and gave them the engine numbers and they confirmed it. So I'm psyched. Heres some of the info on the 2001 s281e motor.

"At the heart of the S281-E's performance is the highly potent powerplant. Built in house under the experienced guidance chief engineer Neil Hannermann and engine department manager Bill Tally (hey Bill ! - MW :-), the 281CID 4.6L engine is comprised of a special forged steel Saleen crankshaft, forged connecting rods, forged alum. pistons and unique Saleen alum. cylinder heads featuring special valve springs and the latest Saleen performance camshafts."

now I gotta decide which blower to go with to replace the series 2. 1.7 or 2.2 kenne bell? damn good news

That is so cool! That is some sleeper you have there. Who would think that a 96' is going to have a S281 E stuffed in to it. The KB 1.7 should be a great combo with that motor.

i was pretty skeptical too because i was told the extreme came out in 2002 but it really came out in 2001. but yeah, i really want that 2.2 but thats a lot of $$. plus the rest of my car aint forged if you know what i mean, so 500+whp would probably blow up the t45, along with the rear axel snapping in half and fuelines exploding. so i got a lot of work ahead of me. definetly not a sleeper though, the exhaust and overall look says fast so i lose that element, but at least i got the power to back it up. heh, damn good news.

You can start out with the 2.2 and a low-boost pulley. Upgrade the pulley after you upgrade the tranny and rear axles. A new radiator wouldn't be bad either.

delay the kit and paint job. Your car looks great already and the performance is certainly "cooler" than the body kit.

Its too bad you're not getting a NEW Saleen Extreme!
From the Saleen website..
"550hp With Extreme, Distinct, Styling Pure Saleen styling and performance, all bundled in a 550hp shot of adrenaline. The S281 Extreme is sure to keep those European enthusiasts in awe of what a domestic OE manufacturer is able to accomplish. "

I want one so bad!!!!

Get the numbers off your block yourself, before you go adding any more boost than stock. The guy could be blowing smoke up your *** for all you know. Never trust the seller, even if it's family
