I gotta be honest... these 2V 4.6 motors are weak as hell...
I beat the hell out of mine and it runs like a champ with no leaks, misses, etc. If you're an idiot and you get a kick out of pegging the rev limiter every chance you get, how can you possibly be surprised when the motor tells you to go f- yourself? With any motor?

SHM has the forged short block on sale for 3000 with a Cobra crank. I would buy that short block and put my heads and stuff on. That would be a sweet motor to put a S/C or nitrous on. http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/...specials.shtml
Can you say 600 horse power?

Look around dude. I have seen a 03 Cobra engine w/ the Tranny for 12000. It had less than 30k on them. If you got the cash, it is the way to go. I will try to fnd the link. In fact, here it is http://www.car-part.com/index.htm Good luck.

Ok i just gound out from a ford dealer after they did all of the diagnostic tests taht my motor is completely done. First of all the whole car is going to be 7000$ to fix, heres what they said is wrong with it , Number 8 cylinder is gone completely broken, theres a problem with rod bearing, problem with the wrist pin, problem with exhaust manifold its leaking, idler screwd up, and soon theres going to be major problems with the clutch and brakes… SO THESE ARE MY OPTIONS, If the cylinder wall is intact then just get a stroker kit. But because the #8 cylinder is gone, then it was probably bouncing around the cylinder wall which means it probably scratched or cracked it up. So i might just do a complete engine swap, this means im going to need to find either a junkyard motor ( stock 4.6L SOHC, saleen, mach1, or hopefullly cobra) or buy a brand new crate motor. Last but hopefully this isnt the case, im going to have to sell the car , and sadly ill only have enough money to buy maybe an lt1 camaro / firebird ( about 6-7 grand ) but hopefully i can get it fixed or end up with more horsepower.

ok here is a interesting question, did u break it yourself, like abuse, or did u install something wrong, ignore a noise or sign, not have oil?? I am sure there is more too this story, that sounds pretty bad if you just use the car just for going back and forth too work, i just ask because your giving the motor a bad name if it was your fault....

Compared to what? Its a dammed 281 ci motor capable of 425-450 RWHP on boost. And ALOT more than that with a forged bottom end.

That is an excellent site. He can pick up 2V motors all day with low milage for less than $2500, or a 4V Mach 1 for $5000. No prices on '03-'04 Cobras, but they have them.

Again, great site for everyone.
