How do you like the Steeda Tr1-ax shifter, there are so many shifters on the market, The Steeda sounded like the best. In February, I install The Steeda UDP system and a shifter. I just installed Flowmaster Super 40 series mufflers on my stock pipes, AWESOME!
Nice mellow deep tone, NO DRONE! My wife's Bullitt GT with stock exhaust is the Drone-master, it's actually annoying on a long trip. She's adamant about not modifying her car, so drone on. Funny thing, she keeps grabbing the keys to my car, I wonder why. BTW, the exhaust change definitely boosted HP and torque! I can drive through this muddy section of the farm road I live on in second gear at 500rpm and not lug or chatter, and yes I've got stock gears.

your current mods are a nice start. I would personally go get a catless mid pipe, a hand held tuner(diablo), and a set of gears next. Usually i tell people to quite being little panty waste and get 4.10's, but since your trying to be conservative, go get 3.73's. Oh yeah, get a really good compound tire. One of the best thing you can do to improve your car is a good set of sticky tires.

 

3:73.1 is what I would recomend unless you have an automatic. Whoever quoted you those prices is off their rocker! A good set of Ford Racing gears will run you (if you shop around) $130.00, plus about $60 for install kit, and we usually charge $100 for install ($120 with synthetic Royal Purple gear oil.
