Default Tire thoughts...

looking at getting some new rims and tires for the summer as the OE goodyears are on their last legs, and then some (approaching 35k miles). so im looking at throwing on some KDW 2's on 17x9's (front) and 17x10.5 (back) polished bullits.

the biggest tire they make in the KDW's are 255/40YR17... are these going to work on the above rims? any other suggestions?

255/40 will work fine on 17x9" rims. you can actually go up to 275/40 with the 17x9" inch tim, probably more

255/40 will look small on a 17x10.5. I got the Falken F451 Beta's from tirerack.com. 275/40 rear and 255/40 front, on 17x9 all around rims. They fit like a glove, I can try to get some pics of it if you want

well, i went with those tires due to their rating... strong all around except in noise (which doesnt even matter with the magnaflows and the stereo..). maybe 17x9 all around would be a better fit if i am set on those tires?

Prolly, Im not trying to sway ya on you're choice, but I havent had an issue ith the falkens, they grip, in wet and dry, in fact they might grip too much (if thats poss!) and they corner great, but if you're set on 255/40, then I'd go 17x9 all around, plus you can rotate the tires properly to prolong life :-p

To get the total look of the 17x10.5's, go with 315/35's.
