This is a good one for me since my dads in the petro business. All a higher octane gasoline has is more cataylist wich makes it have the higher octain level. On example of cataylist is a moff ball. You can drop them in your tank for extra octane. Also the only difference in the fuels are the speeds at wich they lite off and the speed they burn. My pops brings me home pure cataylist and I add 1 qaurt of it to my tank wich makes 12 gallons of regular fuel into 140 octane. LOL
Typicaly up to 9.7 to 1 compression ratio is pushing it to run regular but it will work if the timing is not advandced to far.
So ya 87 octane is all you need for shure. And higher octain doesnt raise power it mearly gives the alowable burn and rate to tune for more power.

if it makes it burn slower then does 140 octane burn fully?

RE: What's up with 93 octane gas?
Update - I had another thread going with my engine vibration and loss of power.
Guess what, I filled with 87 and the engine is running smooth as silk. I am only down to 3/4 of a tank, and I have already traveled ~60 miles in Miami traffic.
Thank you all for the advise![&:]

If you run premium on a stock ford, that's not a SVT powered car, it can hurt your engine. When I worked at a Ford Dealership, it was told to me by them, that to make sure to let the customers know to run 87 in the cars, unless they were SVT Products because the higher octane fuels have the additives in them and while they burn slower - it also burns uneven... - From Ford Dealership I worked at.
