Default 3rd syncranizer (sp?)

Just a question. Does anyone know how much it would cost to fix a 3rd syncranizer on a tranny off of a 02 gt? I know someone with one and that is what it needs. What is that and how hard is it to fix? thanks

if it has the T3650 in it, there is a third gear syncro kit TSB for it because they were no good in the 02/03 models.

It would cost you a fortune to get it done......the parts are really expensive because it's a whole assembly that comes with second and third gear, I think. It's been awhile.

EDIT: Here ya go. Everthing you need. the TSB # and kit #.......Ford has to fix it. Just tell them the symptoms exactly as they are described in this TSB. They won't WANT to do it but that's why you have a 5 or 6 year powertrain warranty

TR3650 MANUAL TRANSMISSION - JUMPS OUT OF
GEAR 2ND AND/OR 3RD - CLASH NOISE AND/OR
RASPY FEEL ON GEAR ENGAGEMENT

FORD:
2001-2003 Mustang

ISSUE

Some 2001-2003 Mustang vehicles, equipped with TR36505 speed manual transmission may exhibit a clash noise and/or a raspy (rough) feel on gear engagement during 1-2 or 2-3 shifts. The transmission may also exhibit a jump-out from 2nd and/or 3rd gear. The condition may be more pronounced when the transmission is colder than 40°F (5°C).

ACTION

To service, install a Synchro Kit. The kit includes 2nd main shaft gear, 1-2 synchronizer assembly, 3rd main shaft gear 3-4 synchronizer assembly the 1-2 and 3-4 shift fork and rail assemblies, blocking rings and an oil fill level sticker. Add new transmission fluid and fill to the revised lower level. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE ALL COMPONENTS IN THE KIT ARE REVISED AND MUST BE REPLACED.

NOTE BLOCKING RINGS MAY APPEAR DIFFERENT THAN THOSE BEING REMOVED FROM THE TRANSMISSION.

NOTE REFER TO THE WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 308-03 TO AID IN THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE.

1. Remove the transmission from the vehicle.

2. Disassemble the transmission.

3. Install all of the revised components included in kit 3R3Z-7124-AC.
