Default headers/exhaust system

I finally bought a stang! i just bought a 96 gt and im looking at headers and exhaust systems. I like the JBA silver ceramic coated headers but im not 100% sure i want to go with them. Im looking for something that is not only going to be loud (like the 40 series flowmasters) but i want something that is going to allow my engine to put out max HP. Any suggestions? im open to everything. Thanks everyone!

It is usually best to choose on sound rather than performance. This is because as far as HP goes, there is little difference between the different systems. And I don't know what you consider loud, but Flowmasters, compared to other popular systems are not loud. Some people like the tone of them, which is cool for them, but I really got tired of it with my old 98GT. I would suggest either the LM1s or LM2s by SLP. Very solid system and both have a nice sound and are very loud.

LM2's with an o/r x pipe will sound really good. LM1's are really raspy up top, thats just my opinion.

Have you ever had LM1s? I do not find the LM1s to be raspy at all....

I've heard plenty of clips, with an o/r mid pipe lm1's sound really raspy up top, just my opinion. I think with an o/r mid pipe lm2's sound better. But thats just my opinion.

Clips really never sound nothing like the actual exhaust. Before I got my LM1s I heard a clip that almost made me change my mind about getting it. After having it installed however, I immediately fell in love...

Exhaust is all opinion and lets be honest, nearly every exhasut with a bit of research will sound great. Its your car, and your gonna love it.

do you suggest going with the slp x pipe or is there another brand that makes a better combination?

X pipe choice is up to you. You wont get much if any difference in sound between brands of midpipes. The difference between SLP and most other X pipes is that they are modular. Which means, you can buy cats and switch them out for the race pipes and vis versa. Also, if you decide to go with longtube headers later, you dont have to buy another midpipe.
