Default Catback vs. Mufflers

What makes a catback so good and 400 dollars vs spending 150 on some mufflers, im reffering to SLP LM1 catback and mufflers. what the difference, bigger pipes? better sound? and why? just curious, because i am saving up for exhuast and wonder whats so much better about catbacks. Why would u get a better performance gain out of catback vs. muffler, I can't see it being a big difference. I eventually want to go s/c but thats a ways into the future.

If you get any gain, you wont be able to feel it.

you'll have to get LMs put on custom if you keep the stock pipes, which will run you like 100 or so anyway. might as well spend the extra 150 or less on the catback.

It will also sound a little different because you are going to a 2 1/2" pipe.. Buy the catback. Plus when you supercharge, getting as much air out as possible is good.

just buy the catback and do it right, better quality, instead of hacking in some LM1's

There will only be a small gain if any stock, but as you add more mods (such as intake mods, supercharger etc..) you get more of a gain. If you dont plan on modding your car a whole lot, then just getting mufflers for the sound might be your best bet. But if you plan on investing some money into your car, the catback will be the obvious choice in the end. Plus personally I think the SLP tips look much cooler than the stock ones.

If all you plan on doing is some mufflers and no other mods to your car, go ahead and just have the stock mufflers removed and new mufflers fitted in place.

If you are planning on doing more modifications down the road, save your money and go with the catback.

Yeah I had welded in flowmasters on the car (when I bought it) and it didn't sound very good. The pipes are just too small and it doesn't have the right sound.

sound sweet, that was my question so are the stock pipes like 2 or 2 1/4" and the aftermarket are 2 1/2"?? just wondered that because i thought the stock pipes and catback were the same so it seemed futile.
