Default Another stupid tuner question.

Is it possible to use a handheld tuner (such as diablo or sct) to turn off your 02 sensors and calibrate for gears without having to have a performance tune loaded?

Bump. I mainly want to know if I can run regular with the Diablo but still use it to turn off my 02 sensors and tune for gears. Anybody know???

I do believe a handheld tuner will turn off your sensor light and recalibrate your speedo. Not sure about the running regular question.

I know they can turn off your CEL and calibrate your speedo. But I dunno if it is part of the "performance" tune the tuner comes with, which you need to run premium to use.

you can modify the stock tune, w/ a predator there a 2 options performance tune or stock hp tune. if you choose stock and change those 2 things it will gain no perrformance but i think it will give you a new tune and not just modify the one on the computer already

So if I modify the stock tune for the speedo/sensors, that becomes the new stock tune and create a backup file of that? So I could then give the tuner to somebody else and they could use it if I wanted to? The reason I am asking is because I plan on doing A LOT of drivng this summer and if I get 4.10 gears and have to run premium here, I will send myself to the poor house. I would rather just be able to use the tuner for the Speedo/02s now, then after the summer load the performance tune when gas is a lot cheaper and I am not having to drive around nearly as much.

The tuner will let you modify for O2s, gears etc without modifying performance. However if you want to give the tuner to somebody else to use, you have to return your car to factory settings first. The tuner can be used on only one car at a time.

Thanks, do you know this from experience? Or did you hear it somewhere?

I know that from experience; pete1665 is correct.

Running premium is not that big of an extra expense. It will cost maybe $2.00 to $2.50 more on a fill-up as opposed to regular.
