You can do it but the rim band will be more exposed and it will look odd.

A 255-265 will help but a 275 is what's recommended and what will look best. Not to mention that the 275/40 will be the right height where as you will need an odd aspect ratio with the 255 or 265 size.

whew... this thread makes me feel better. i was THIS close to buying 245s with my new 9" wheels, but went for the 275s instead.

I myself never use to small/big tires.

But if I had to choose I would rather sqeeze than stretch a tire onto a wheel.

I just wanted to get new wheels and don't want to get new tires yet (just bought some less than 2k miles ago). And I cant find any cool mustang wheels in 17x8...

Everyone relax, you CAN put 245s on a 9" wheel. Its not a big deal, LOTSSS of people do it.
