Default 245/45ZR17 on 17 x 9 inch wheel?

I wanna get new wheels but do not yet wish to get new tires (just bought 4 new tires about a month and a half ago). I was wondering if I could fit 245/45/ZR17 tires on aftermarket 17 x 9 inch wheels. I have heard that putting tires on wheels they were designed for can cause uneven wear and poor handling characteristics. You think I would run into any trouble? I currently have the stock wheels (the bullet style I guess is what theyre called) which I believe to be 17 x 8. Anybody have any input? Thanks.

Yea you can stretch tires. They will be fine.

People put 225's on 8" rims all the time.

You NEED wider tires!!!!!!!!

Mine never hold air in them at all, I constantly have to fill them up and keep an eye on them. You really need 255/40-45/17.

So is it not recommended to put 245-40-17's on 17x9's, or is it not possible.

I have 17x9 black bullits from mustangtuning.com and goodyear 245/45/17. I went to tire kingdom to have them looked at because they kept losing air...they told me the rims are too wide for the tires and that I NEED wider tires.

its possible...but I wouldnt do it if you can afford wider tires. You could end up damaging the rim or the tire or both if your not careful.
