What is a SVO mustang? What makes them special? There is a guy at work that has one.....sounds mean. I'm thinking about pushing his test button.

 

A SVO is a turbocharged 4cyl mustang. They are pretty neat cars, and limited edtion too.

The power of course, as with everything, depends on the mods. I would call em mid/high 14 second cars stock.

 

No this one is definitely not a 4cyl. Maybe he just has the SVO side skirts. Its about a 97/98 GT with the side exhaust. On the side skirts it says SVO. I thought it might be some kinda "special" stang. Either he has some good engine work or one hell of a exhaust system. It sounds mean.

Racing Heritage
Ford's Special Vehicle Operations developed the Mustang SVO by applying track-tested technology from the IMSA Mustang race cars. Mustang SVO Prototypes were raced in the 24-hours at Nelson Ledges. Production SVOs are today still raced at tracks across the country in both "street" and "competition prep" models. Some day you will be sure to see Mustang SVOs in vintage races as well.

At its introduction in 1984, the Mustang SVO produced a whopping 175 horsepower from its small 2.3 litre, 4-cylinder engine with its EEC-IV engine management system. But the men at SVO didn't stop there. By 1985-1/2 and 1986, many changes were made throughout the vehicle, and the little port fuel-injected, turbocharged, and intercooled engine produced 200 bhp at 5000 rpm (205 bhp for 1985-1/2), and generated 240 lbs of torque at 3000 rpm.

I don't remember the SVOs have side exit exhaust. The one I test drove didn't have it either. Not sure what you buddy has, but it's not an SVO.

 

are you sure its not a SVT? those things are fast and they had sidepipes and whatnot availible to, believe they were 8cyl tho, fasssst and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ but you try him with a SVT prepare to tell him if he has a tail light out

Its an aftermarket exhaust system that comes with new side skirts. Its side pipes.
