RE: HEADER'S FOR A 98GT
I agree 99% of questions could be answered with a simple search on here or with google. Like this thread, I googled header installations along time ago and found that the BBK website has downloadable step-by-step instructions for headers. But where is the fun in that?

You're the one who needs to ease up on everyone.
You got the answers you wanted and if you ask more questions I'm positive you'll get the answers you are looking for. Anyways, welcome to MF.

If you are decent with a wrench and patient, it is a pia, but not un-doable. But, before I bought headers, I went to three sites, JBA, BBk and FRPP and looked at their install. Yeah, it's a pain, and I noticed you have a '98, you probably may encounter rusted fasteners, not an issue with my '04. So set aside alot of time, My car will take 8-12 hours to do, and I don't have rusted fasteners. I do also have a huge rollaway filled with tools, torches, mig welder, and 30 years of hot-rodding wisdom. My feeling is you will need a good selection of 3/8 extensions, one a wobble, for starter bolts (you loosen the starter from in front of the crossmember). A 3/8 drive swivel head ratchet, a 13mm deep, a 13mm med deep, a 13mm ratcheting wrench, 1/2 drive, 21mm deep socket (for engine mounts), and a floor jack and block of wood, for the right side. The RS is tightest on top bolts, you need to lift the engine off the mount 1-1 1/2 inch. If you have the stuff, go for it, it's the only way you will learn, and you can save alot of money in the process aqnd have your stuff done when YOU want it done.

I was planning on getting some long tubes....but I don't really know if I should. I'm thinking about doing a PI swap and then longtubes and a catted X....how much would it cost to get a set of headers installed..like from a mechanic...

Every shop I asked said 400-600 for labor.. and that didnt even include a reach around! I plan to do it with a couple friends this summer to save the cash... Its definatly a DIY job if you can turn a wrench. I was just calling around to see what I was up against if I couldnt manage it.. like if a bolt was so rusted that even heating it with a torch and so fourth couldnt get it to come out.. kinda scared me a bit.
