Default how do i change to synthetic oil?

ok so i bought my 96GT October 18th, 2005 and have just now run enough miles to get to the next oil change. The guy did it a few days before we bought it and i drove around atlanta once and the rest of the miles r going to school and around town. The guy has been using natural fossil oil ever since he bought it and id like to switch to synthetic. the only thing is it has 100k miles. is this a good idea? i'd like to start using Mobil 1 or Royal Purple. idk what kind of filter. but my question is how do i change from fossil to synthetic? i know you cant just pour in synthetic. isnt it like half and half for a while then all synthetic the next oil change or what? i dont want to mess up the seals and stuff and ruin my engine. that's the last thing i need right now without a job.

oh and what filter is the best. Any tips when i go to change it? im thinkin about gettin one of those FRAM oil change plugs so it doesnt pour out until you hook the tube up.

I am not sure what oil to recommend, but I could tell you wich filter I prefer, Purolator PureOne, this is awesome. It has the micro-fibre and it 98% efficient. It only costs ~3.00 more than the regular one. Hope this helps.

why do you say that? and what is the highest quality fossil oil?

edit: nvm on which brand oil. i always thought mobil made all synthetics but ill just get thier Mobil Clean High Mileage.

what filter should i go with and how many quarts?

which rating? i know its the winter now but spring is coming soon and i probably wont be changing my oil again till July if i drive the same so id like to get a summer oil.

just get 5w30 fossil oil. unless your running high compression or are pulling some massive gforces your not gonna need synthetic oil.

He doesn't need a V8, but he has one. I'd switch to synthetic b/c it prolongs the life of your engine. It reduces sludge build up and makes it more efficient. You wont gain hp, but it's better for your motor. You can also try using a synthetic blend.

you could run a syn blend for this change and then swap to full syn i have never had a problem switching to full though. just switch and go.

id like to get other peoples inputs before i just switch and go. i know a few mechanics and a lot of car guys and all of them say you have to ease into it.
