A buddy of mine had one on his 98 and had it for 3 years and had no problems with the springs. He only had problems with his tranny with it popping out of reverse and he lost 4th gear twice in it.

As in he missed the 4th gear shift? Or had a problem with 4th gear in the tranny?

His 4th gear tranny was messed up. The same with it just popping out of reverse.

Hmmm that's weird. That seems to happen somewhat frequently with shorshifters. Is it the shortshifter that causes that?

He was hoping that the pro 5.0 would help it thinking that maybe it was his shifter going bad. it was a problem he had with the stock shifter too.

Ahhhh. My friend had a 93 Dodge stealth with only 50k miles on it and it popped out of reverse all the time. It had a very short throw on the shifter, assuming it was a factory short shifter to give the car a sportier feel. I wonder if its just what you get for having a shorter throw shifter...

I'm not sure I would hope not. He also took it to a $h1tty dealer to have it installed so. They could have done stop bolts wrong and screwed it all up from the beginning. If I start noticing problems though it's comin off and the stock one is going back on.

Same here.
Though I have a shortshifter on my CRX and its given no problems....

that's my great hope is that all is well. I'm having the fluid changed in the tranny and for them to check it soon also.
