Default super charger question

sorry if this is a retarded question but here goes... I was originally planning a tt setup on my 99 gt, however after some more contemplation I may go with a S/C because I just like the idea better of american muscle and a sc than a turbo, plus I have a buddy who is currently building a tt foxbody(not to mention its about 2000 cheaper than a tt). I realize a turbo is more efficent, but I like the looks of the sc and the sound, after all building a street car is about more than just hp. Anyways I was doing some research at paxton, vortech, ATI, etc. after reading a publication by SHM where a 1500hp cobra was built using a ATI sc @35psi. Now I am totally retarded as I didn't know S/C could run at boost like this. My question is if I buy a SC kit with a sc that can handle higher boost how do I up the boost. Most kits say something like 8-10psi, can I simply swap a belt for higher psi? or what would I need to do. (by the way I'm looking for 20-25psi of boost) thanks for any and all input, some of you have been very helpful.

You would have to competely build the motor.

And even then 20 psi is a **** ton.

You are going to need a new block with forged internals plus a blower that is rated to run that high.. Adding more boost is just simply swapping pulleys to a smaller one.

Yeah I have my long block narrowed down between dss, dart, and SHM. sweet news about the pullies, I wasn't sure it could be that simple, I'm guessing I'd have to upgrade to a 8 rib plus belt? I have found several sc kits with sufficent superchargers to run up to 29psi for right around 5500. 2000gt I know 20 psi is alot, but with a good block and heads I have seen a few cars running more than that. In fact the best man from my wedding has a grand national he rebuilt that runs 35psi with an alcohol injection system and 25psi on the street.

that sounds great, now the trick is to get it to the ground. i have seen some vids of high hp cars and all they do is spin the tires when the boost kicks in. Seems like a huge waste of time and $$$ if you cant actually use the power.

Ya, to run that kind of boost, you are defanitly gonna have to shell out the big bucks. For forged internals(rods, crankshaft, pistons..) and a blower that would even reach that psi.
