Default CAI question

I know I should know better but better to check with others. When I checked my CAI when I bought the car, I didn't notice anything that looked like an intake silencer. Aftermarkets don't have silencers on them correct?

no they dont. the silencer is a piece deep in the front fender/bumper corner that your factory air intake connected to. it was designed to quiet down the engine, and make it more "pleasent" to drive. i think theyre just an annoyance.

That's what I figured but seeing as how I bought mine with the Mac performance one I figured I'd check. I wanna switch to a different one in better shape. any suggestions?

umm i like k&N. im not really one to say, becuase i am taking out my silencer and puttind a k&N filter in the stock intake. it really doesnt make much of a power difference between that and a whole CAI, unless you have some serious engine mods. i'd say find one that you think looks good and stick with it.

that will be good. id say check out some UD pulleys before you go with the TB & P thats what i was going to do, but the pulleys give better bang for the buck for lightly modded cars.
if you do go with pulleys, i recommend steeda. but again its your car. so do what will make you happiest.

I thought about those also. They are also in the plan. I actually will have enough to both if I please. I've heard a lot of steeda praises too for those. Are those simple enough to do in a driveway haha

all right well the CAI may not happen just a thought. I'm not really concerned all that much with work. I took it off and cleaned it once didn't know if that might do anything but cleaned it inside and out. just concerned with gettin the TB&P and possibly the UDP
