Default vortech/engine question

What are the chances of my engine being screwed up if some metal shavings got in? I don't think they did but there is a possibility since my blower crapped out.
What should I do before I start my car again? Change oil, run trans fluid through engine, change oil again after 1k miles?

Change oil and possibly get a magnetic oil plug, someone on the forum has used it and I'm going to use one when my shortblock is complete even though it's blueprinted!

What all would cause metal shaving being in the engine? How would your S/C cause it?
