Here's the plan (Project 5.4)
Ok so i did my research and after a lot of talking with MMR i've found out this whole project is going to be a peice of cake. Get a Trition 5.4 block put my stage 2 heads and cams on it, get the adapter plates and put my typhoon manifold on and becuase the 5.4 has a forged crank, add a little laughing gas. Whatya guys think? My buddy co-owns a huge junk yard and said he can get me a 5.4 for around $500. I just need shorty headers is the only thing. My long tubes wont work but they said shorties will fit. I'll post pics as the build goes along. They said this setup could make around 350ish rwhp n/a
$500 for the block. $200 for the adapter plates. $100-$200 for the coil overs (becuase my springs aren't going to cut it) $200 for the new oil pan (not a must but they highly recommended it). Thats all i have left to buy. The heads, cams, manifold, coils, etc are already paid for. And then another $600 for the 100 shot N20 kit (maybe) a 5.4 with stage 2 heads and cams in a mustang through 4.30 gears is going to be pretty friggin torquey as is without adding the 100 shot. . . .
Sounds like a good idea. I didn't know they made adaptors for 4.6 heads to go on 5.4 blocks. Hmmm, I'm getting ideas! Sounds like a sweet set up with a little giggle gas to back it up if you need it. Where are you getting these adapter plates from? MMR?
Yeah MMR has them. I have a feeling is this all goes well i might start a revolution here lol. You can pickup 5.4 blocks for next to nothing at junk yards! They bolt right in to the stock engine mounts. Like i said, you just have to use shorty or stock headers. Or do like whats his name did and build your own long tubes but im not that industrious.
Hmm, thats cool, although the k-member on their website says "good for 5.4 swaps." Idk though. Sounds like your good to go if you talk to them. Get it done and give us some numbers!
I suppose that would make me "what's his name"
Sounds cool man. A lot of people knock the swap but I like the idea. One more thing, according to SHM only some years of the 5.4 2v had a steel crank. The others only have a cast crank. Only the 5.4 4v came with the forged crank.
