i've been looking for a supercharged car but can't afford the '03-'04 cobra's. should i avoid any supercharged stock 2 valves? thats what i'm interested in. what should i look for to be safe? low boost, or a completely set up dss block and forged internals? i don't know really what i'm looking for except a good priced supercharged mustang under $18k any suggestions?

 

I would just purchase a un-boosted mustang for about 5K less that you want to spend total, and put your own on. Supercharged cars have usually been beaten on pretty bad. Unless the car has perfect records, and you take it for a very good inspection for damage, etc, I would steer clear of used sc cars.

 

Get the person to show you there dyno sheets and look at the a/f ratio. Tune is the key to life or death of a supercharged engine. Make sure they're running no more than 10 lbs of boost. If they've been running 12 or more then there has been a lot of strain on the rods.

 

By a stock gt then supercharge it yourself.
