How have you guys done against the 2005 and newer LS2 GTO's? 400hp 400tq. I'm curious. They're cheaper than a '03 '04 cobra, and I'm wondering iffaster.

 

Hmmm...Front what I have seen, the new GTO's are not cheaper than a 03/04 Terminator. Every stock for stock race I have ever seen/watched against the two, the terminator always wins. Terminators make all their torque down low and pulls to the end, the GTO's make power over time.

Im not sure... but i think GTOs are heavy as hell.

 

the gto i think weighs like 100 pounds more...but the cobra is faster.

 

The GTO's are heavy and slow against a Termi. They need some mods to be somewhat quick. Most stock ones I have seen run high 13's. There is one at the track with full exhaust, cam and DR's...he runs 12.1x's

 

Thats what I want to hear. I watched some videos of races and it was about half and half. But, as you said, the GTO's were modded. Plus, I think the GTO is an extremely ugly car. I had one honk at me the other day. He said. "I'd race you, but I don't see the point." I said "You'll probably win, but your car is still ugly." He didn't answer.

I can see that the Terminator is in my future. Each day I get closer to getting one.

#1 a terminator vert is heavier than a gto.so weight is not a huge issue. #2 as far as a all around better car goes gto wins hands down better handling, better interior, just all around better built hence weight of the car. #3 If its bang for the buck power you want defintly get the cobra. #4 When my gto was stock it beat a 04 cobra twice and lost zero times (cobra had intake) so I woudln't say stock for stock the cobra wins EVERYTIME I would say the majority of the time. A whippled or kenne bell cobrais just crazy, but have you ever seen what happens to a ls engine when you hit it with some nitrous?? And as far as price goes look at this way you might be able to find a slightly abused 03/04 cobra with 30k miles for 23-24k or you could still get a brandnew 06 for around 28k. It all depends what your looking for if you want killer power for cheap(er) no doubt get the cobra there is NO better car to get for the reason. If you want something that is comfortable, has an auto option ( if you want to put a stall on it), makes good power a bit more expensive to mod but can defintly match the power the cobra puts out, and you really hate when you see the same car as you have every 30mins then get the GTO.

 

2 bad you dont see cobras every 30 min...i see more gto's then cobras.

 

+1, for some reason I see gto's quite often and very rarely see a Terminator. It makes me sad.
