Now if the car was tuned and i disconnet the battery will i lose the tune. And if i buy a tuner will i be able to tune it. Thanks for the help.

Default RE: Tune question

if the car has a computer tune and you disconnect the battery, that doesn't change the comp. because it was flash tuned. you have to have a stock tune installed to use a handheld tuner. if the owner didn't give you a tuner with the car then it is probably stock. i would contact the previous owner and ask.
good luck!

If you buy a tuner you can use it. The tune that is inthe carnow will be stored as factory tune in the tuner.

Default RE: Tune question

Ford can install the factory program and reset thecar to factory if you so desire. However, as oxford gt states, you can by a programmer. It will recognize the current tune as the factory. With regard to the batery disconnect. IAW a Ford technician this will only reset data collected by the computer and/or reset a CEL that has popped up. I have done this with regard to a CEL I had prior to taking it in for diagnostics per the technician. The CEL reset but came back approximately 50 miles later as he stated it would if the problem was still occurring. FYI. More info with regard to this at www.brenspeed.com where they discuss the caution of protecting your custom tunes prior to taking your vehicle into a local dealer for service. Good stuff.
