Lol, You are gonna be WAY up **** creek with just that stuff.
You will needs MANY things. FUEL system is a must. Shortblock, Clutch, exhaust, poweradder, MAF, Tunes, etc..........
If you do it for less than $10k you're good.

lets say you have a 2004 gt bone stock. what parts would you need and how much would it cost to reach 500hp?

You can have 500 rwhp or more. Another here said "forged lower parts - - crank, pistons, rods), and he's right. You MUST have those if you pass 425-450 hp or you will grenade your engine (ask me). Once you have forged rotating parts, then add whatever power you want; NOS, s/c, turbo, etc. But you must also have the air handling system to feed it and the fuel system to feed it and the tuner/chip, etc to manage it all. That's where it gets expensive. If you have none of those parts yet, the guy who said you're good if you do it for less than $10,000 is pretty much right on!

RE: two quick questions about reaching 500hp
I read an article in 5.0 magazine, were they took a stock motor and put stage II P.I. heads and cams in a 97 motor with a stock 04 intake manfold . They also had a plenum and throttle body and long tubes. They made 401 hp at the flywheel with no accseries. They were also running a Fast Engine Management System. I imagine if you built a 5.4 stroker motor than did those mods you would be close to 500 horseat flywheel n/a.I would also use a Typhoon intake manifold or that new BBK manifold rather than the stock 04 intake to give you even more power.

That's completely misleading. No drivetrain loss, along with alternator etc etc...
